Moving along

Since my last post, much has occured...

I have discovered some new and exciting places in the city to eat and relax with friends, begun my summer classes at Drexel, and have had time to return home to see some friends from my HS years.
Speaking of new places, I recommend anyone in the Ucity area to try LemonGrass on Lancaster Ave. Its a great local Thi Resteraunt with acceptable prices. Equally relaxing would be spending the evening at Triumph, a local Microbrewery on 2nd and Chestnut...if you're 21 of course. All beers on tap are brewed on site with acceptable prices.

As far as classes are concerned, I am enjoying them thoroughly. Anatomy has proven to be mucho work, requiring hours of studying a night, and the exams are not the easiest I have encountered at Drexel. I assume part of the stress comes from the fact that Bio 480 is a new class, so the prof is using us as her "test subjects". regardless I have learned much about Anatomy and expect to learn more in the coming weeks.

As far as the DWC program, I am glad to say that the Ice Cream socials have been a blast with many freshman students attending and meeting their upcoming classmates.

Till next time...

new term

My new term of classes has begun...and I'm finally taking a class I am truly interested in 100%...gross anatomy. We will be covering all the systems of the body in detail by the regional approach.
Over the weekend I celebrated my roommates 21st B-day. The 12 of us wend to Triumph, a new microbrewery in Old City on 2nd and Chestnut...I have a new favorite hangout. All Beers on tap are made on site...crisp and refreshing.
The remainder of the weekend was spend watching new movies, including Live Free or Die Hard. As the 4th movie in the Die Hard series I must say it did not have the typical Die Hard feel. The Graphics and action sequences were improved 10 fold from its older films. I believe LFDH will be the movie of the summer...I would defiantly see it again.
Week two will be spent reviewing for my quizes on Friday, with a brief intermission for the 4th, which will be spend on the Parkway with friends. Can't wait!

Classes have once again ended and the transition is being made from textbooks to practicality. Although this term concluded with much success, I feel empty. How could this be? I have succeeded in all my goals set for this term, and I am about to begin another 6-month journey sure to challenge my skills and logic. There is much to learn, in addition to reviewing that which has already been learned, but I will ask myself again, why do a feel so miserable. I think I am the worst pessimist one can find.
I took five days off to relax before returning to the internship. I had many plans: visiting friends at college, organizing materials and schedules for upcoming classes, and spending time with my family, which I never seem to do these days. Now Thursday, I have yet to see any friends or the inside of a text. I sat in front of a TV for much of the weekend, slept in, and spent a few days with the office, only to realize how little I know about the MCCO. Its time for a change...

The apartment is scheduled for completion Friday. I want to move in, and start anew.

This past week has been the most trying and difficult of my life. I n addition to managing my class schedule and exams, I also had to deal with ending my relationship with an individual, which lasted 4 years, for better or worse. In a way, I have attempted to focus on my studies to pull through, but I must admit, much time this week was spent sleeping, probably due to a mini depression over the circumstances. I will learn from this experience, surely. More importantly, I have three finals, which are equally difficult. One day at a time.

So its week 8 at Drexel, which translates to the forever-loved moment during the term where you are forced to observe the grades you have attained in each of your classes. Will you fail? Will you succeed? Do you have butterflies in your chest knowing finals are two weeks away???? Ah, good times. This term has forced me to examine the student I currently am and how much work will be required to accomplish my desires in the coming years. MCATS are a year away and I have a momentous amount of learning to do before I consider myself "prepared" to take the exam. My roommates are taking the MCAT this weekend. They have studied for 7hrs a day over the past 3 months, reviewing two years of bioscience material, and it has paid off. The lest practice exam they took, each of them achieved above a 30, one actually broke a 35. Congrats to all of you.
So in the next year, I will strive to improve my GPA and prepare for this dreaded exam, in hopes to spend another 8 years in school, spending way too much on tuition.

Looking forward to CoOp. I have had enough of exams, quizzes, and deadlines. I want to complete this last term and spend a week with family and friends as far away from this city as possible. This past week was spent prepping for Chem and Physics exams, which have proven to be worth the effort. One issue I do have with Drexel is the constant examination periods. Due to the trimester system, material is covered fast, thus, I feel like every week I am being tested on something...no time to relax. I guess this has its benefits, as you retain more info, and are forced to keep up with covered material...

By the way...Drexel received its University Charter from the Commonwealth of Pa in 1969.

Whoa!!! Its already the end of week 6, this term is flying by. Grades are good, and I have been spending more time with friends this term. Orientation is this week and all the aspiring students have those blank looks on their faces: a bit nervous, excited, and most of all, annoyed they are at school during their Senior summer. I remember this well.
The rest of the week will include catching up on class readings and preparing for my the next round of exams in a week. As tuned as I am to the Drexel process, I will never like the consistent examinations. I guess its a good prep for grad school.
